Drafting a life

My Mom’s Pie Crust

by Joan Robinett Wilson on April 20, 2011

Yes, my Mom’s pie crust is the best.  This is probably the same recipe your Mom uses, too.  It always turns out.  Lately, I’ve had to add a bit more flour which I note in the recipe.

The Pie Crust of My Mother

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (original) – 2 1/4 cups (depending on the weather) flour
  • 3/4 cup crisco
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 4-6 T. cold water

Cooking Directions:

  1. Mix the salt and flour together.
  2. Cut in the crisco with a pastry blender until crumbly.
  3. Add water until it forms a workable ball.
  4. Divide dough in half and roll out top and bottom crusts.
  5. Makes enough crust for one large pie

Snohomish, WA is where you’ll find me, architect mom, ”drafting a life”; working from home as an architect, managing my family’s lives, forgetting to clean the house, building some crazy thing or another, sometimes cooking a great meal and always packing my kids horrible lunches.
