Every Fourth of July my mother issues a baked bean edict. She must have them. For me, I can take them or leave them. However, add some bacon, hamburger, brown sugar and some other tasty ingredients and I’m in line for seconds…and thirds…fourths….The only problem with this recipe is that if you make it once, your mother will demand it every year, as will your husband, your son, your Aunt Alice……

I made this recipe and thought I better double it because I was going to take some to my sister who just had surgery. Oh my, I had enough to feed the neighborhood!!
Such a classic dish that reminds me of summer. I used butter beans instead of lima beans. P.S. Love the photo and the tiny cast iron skillet!

Yes, you did make enough for a small army if you doubled it!

I have to say this is one of my favorite bean dishes, thanks to Lynn for making it for me. I even shared it with all of my family, (they all loved it). And thanks to architect mom for putting the recipe on her awesome website.
